It's Christmas Week
So I have decided to learn Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers (I’ve linked a very beautiful arrangement by Kyle Landry) from the ballet The Nutcracker for Christmas this year. It’s going to be a tough winter indeed.
There is something very reminiscent about The Nutcracker Suite. I heard it for the first time as a five year old in Tom and Jerry: A Nutcracker Tale. I didn’t provide the music any adjunct importance; it was all the same to me! But it turned out to be my favorite Tom and Jerry movie, and it still is. In fact, a few years back when I coincidently heard The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, a fist of nostalgia pummeled into my face. I recognized it from the movie.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite was appreciated all over the world. Au contraire he was really dissatisfied by it. He had little leeway in composing the suite – the regiment was fixed, down to the number of bars!
It’s a difficult piece and I’ll try to work on a few sections in the coming days. If all goeth well, expect an update on the blog post. Expect an update anyways.
Flashback:
Here’s something from last christmas.

You won’t find the video anywhere.
